Perspectives of Growth
Materials:
Steel, White Cement, Paint
Dimensions:
4 1/2 ft x 5 ft
Artist Statement:
This piece is an expression of the importance of growth and reflection in life. The use of eyes is my way of bringing myself into the piece, as eyes are a prevalent part of my work and my artistic journey. The eyes are also representative of observing the present as well as looking forward to the future and back into the past. As people we are growing and learning everyday. The eyes from any angle are going in three different directions to reflect this.
Description:
As I learned about Lions park and the Firehouse Art Center, I came to know it as a place that cherishes community and growth. This piece is a representation of that, a place of growth and reflection. From any angle the eyes are looking in three different directions. The idea is that the three eyes are representative of the past, present and future. The past, looking back on experiences that made you who you are today. The present, being in the moment and taking in whatever you can. The future, staying hopeful for what's to come.
